Ladylike (frieze), Laser cut mirrored acrylic, wood, fabric, paper, 60" x 60" x 1", 2019.

Ladylike (frieze) references the historical wall frieze format to capture a moment of the everyday. In this work, I am pointing to women's labor. Globally, women are managing the majority of the unpaid domestic labor even when employed in a full time paid job. A recent UN Labour report (https://www.ilo.org/global/about-the-ilo/newsroom/news/WCMS_674816), states that it will take another 200 years to reach gender equality in unpaid domestic work. Ladylike (frieze) is a recognition of the 24/7 work day for mothers who rarely get to clock out, and are constantly juggling the many demands of their labor.
