Ladylike (expanded dollhouse) is a digital animation projected onto a laser cut project screen (2018-2019). The projection screen depicts a 14 room house that contains domestic and public spaces in which women perform. The animations depicts the icon for woman. She runs from room to room completing and failing the tasks the room demands. This project is a reflection of the expanded rolls women play, and the lack of support and recognition that many of them face.

The video above shows documentation of the work exhibited at the SBMA Biennial 30. In this iteration, the animation is projected onto laser cut wood that is painted and stained. Wood is the ideal medium for the projection screen as it recalls my own childhood dollhouse that was made of unfinished balsa wood.

The video below shows a brief documentation of Ladylike (expanded dollhouse) installed at the gardeHouse at Lafayette College. The gardeHouse is a campus guard house that has been converted into an installation space for visiting artists. The animation is projected onto a sheet of laser cut frosted acrylic with a wooden frame.

The amazingly talented Joy Choe @juheechoe assisted with the animation.
